As a condition of membership each member institution agrees to make available a minimum annual sum (currently $10,150) for Campus-Based Projects. These projects are reviewed by the local language committee and administered within the individual institution.
Consortial Projects, for which $70,000 is currently available annually, are awarded on a competitive basis and are reviewed by the Governing Board. Proposals for Consortial Projects must address some aspect of an annual topic, chosen by the Governing Board at its annual May meeting. Consortial Projects must involve the active collaboration of at least three member institutions.
Workshops, colloquia, and additional activities are supported on an ad hoc basis.
The Consortium has received generous funding from many private foundations. As of 1998, the administrative costs of the Consortium are paid for by annual contributions of the member institutions.
